When we started Xokhi, we had a simple idea: build something useful for local communities. But instead of assuming what people needed, we wanted to test the idea first. So, we experimented with different categories, different ways of sharing information, different ways of searching and different ways of navigating the platform. We looked at what people actually used, where they faced friction and which problems had a genuine need for a simpler solution. That process taught us a lot. More importantly, it helped us identify four areas where Xokhi could genuinely be useful: Rent & PG Health & Medicine Lost & Found Local information and community help These became the foundation of Xokhi 2.0.   The Assam flood situation continues to affect families, villages, roads, agricultural land and livestock across several parts of the state. As of 4 August 2026, reports said that more than 1.22 lakh people remained affected , while the overall flood-related death toll had risen to 89 . Relief and rescue work continued in the affected areas as authorities provided food, shelter, medicines and other essential support. ( The Times of India ) The situation remains sensitive because fresh rainfall can quickly increase river levels, flood low-lying areas and disrupt roads or transport routes again. Heavy rainfall warning issued for Assam The India Meteorological Department issued a red alert for Assam on 5 August, warning of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in parts of the region.   Upper Assam is going through one of its most devastating flood disasters in recent years. Homes have disappeared under water. Families have been displaced overnight. As of 27 July 2026, the Assam flood death toll had risen to 68 , while more than 5.24 lakh people across 763 villages remained affected. When someone urgently needs a medicine, a room, a local service, a trusted update or help from someone nearby, the experience can become chaotic very quickly. You search on Google. You check Facebook groups. You ask in WhatsApp groups. You call people. You contact shops. You speak to brokers. You wait for replies. Sometimes the answer is close by. But the information is scattered, outdated or simply not reaching the person who needs it. That is the problem Xokhi is trying to solve. Xokhi is not a typical civic-reporting app. Platforms such as Jabor , Reciti app are valuable because they focus on specific civic accountability issues and encourage people to report problems that need public attention.
