Assam Flood Relief 2026: Verified Donation Details, Relief Groups and Ways to Help Upper Assam.

Upper Assam is going through one of its most devastating flood disasters in recent years. Homes have disappeared under water. Families have been displaced overnight. Roads, crops, schools, shops and livelihoods have been damaged. People have lost loved ones, belongings accumulated over a lifetime and, in many cases, their only source of income. As of 27 July 2026, the Assam flood death toll had risen to 68 , while more than 5.24 lakh people across 763 villages remained affected. Earlier during the peak of the crisis, the affected population had crossed seven lakh. But the tragedy cannot be understood through human statistics alone. Thousands of cows, goats, pigs, poultry and পশুধন have been stranded, swept away or left without food and shelter. These animals are not simply livestock figures. For many rural families, পশুধন represents food security, savings, farming support and their primary source of livelihood. Official reports indicated that more than 3.34 lakh animals and po...

When someone urgently needs a medicine, a room, a local service, a trusted update or help from someone nearby, the experience can become chaotic very quickly. You search on Google. You check Facebook groups. You ask in WhatsApp groups. You call people. You contact shops. You speak to brokers. You wait for replies. Sometimes the answer is close by. But the information is scattered, outdated or simply not reaching the person who needs it. That is the problem Xokhi is trying to solve. Xokhi is not a typical civic-reporting app. Platforms such as Jabor , Reciti app are valuable because they focus on specific civic accountability issues and encourage people to report problems that need public attention. Xokhi solves a different problem. It is a 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆-𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗻...

The real problem behind finding a rented place, which no one talks about.

Image
Finding a room, PG or rented home is not difficult only because options are limited. The bigger problem is that the information is scattered, outdated and controlled by too many disconnected sources. You find one listing on Facebook, another through a broker, a third in a WhatsApp group and a fourth through someone who knows someone. By the time you call, the room may already be occupied, the rent may have changed or the location may be completely different from what was described. Then there are the hidden problems: Listings without proper locality details Old photos being reused Rent shown without electricity, food or maintenance charges Brokers asking for payment before sharing complete information Owners receiving repeated calls even after the room is occupied Students and working professionals wasting days visiting unsuitable places Genuine listings getting buried under repeated and irrelevant posts The problem is not always a lack of rented places. Often, the right place is avail...

A few months ago, I needed a particular medicine. I travelled from one pharmacy to another, called several stores and waited for replies, only to later discover that it was available at a shop I had never thought to check. The medicine was nearby. The information was not. That experience made me realise how much time, effort and stress could be avoided if useful local information were easier to find. Then I started noticing the same problem everywhere. People spend days searching for a PG, room or rental home because availability is scattered across brokers, old posts and different groups. Families buy everyday products without knowing that another nearby shop may offer a better price. Scam warnings disappear inside social media feeds before reaching the people who need them. Lost belongings are posted across unrelated pages, while the person who found them may be only a few streets away. Someone may need help, and someone nearby may be willing to help, but they never connect because t...
