A few months ago, I needed a particular medicine. I travelled from one pharmacy to another, called several stores and waited for replies, only to later discover that it was available at a shop I had never thought to check.

The medicine was nearby. The information was not.
That experience made me realise how much time, effort and stress could be avoided if useful local information were easier to find.

Then I started noticing the same problem everywhere.
People spend days searching for a PG, room or rental home because availability is scattered across brokers, old posts and different groups. Families buy everyday products without knowing that another nearby shop may offer a better price. Scam warnings disappear inside social media feeds before reaching the people who need them. Lost belongings are posted across unrelated pages, while the person who found them may be only a few streets away.

Someone may need help, and someone nearby may be willing to help, but they never connect because there is no common local platform bringing them together.

𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝗫𝗼𝗸𝗵𝗶 𝗲𝘅𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘄.

Xokhi is not meant to become another social network or replace existing marketplaces. It is being built as a trusted, community-powered platform where useful local information can be organised, moderated and shared for everyone’s benefit.

It brings together information related to:
• Medicine and essential-item availability
• Daily essentials and local prices
• Rent and PG listings
• Health and medical information
• Lost and found
• Fraud awareness
• Important local updates
• Community help

One useful contribution can save someone hours of searching, help a family make a better decision, reconnect a lost belonging with its owner, warn someone about a scam or connect a person with the help they need.

Every verified update has the potential to help someone else.
And this is only the beginning.

Today, Xokhi begins in Assam. Tomorrow, we hope communities everywhere can benefit from the same idea.
I may have started Xokhi, but together, we can build it.
